Setting some goals for 2025

I've used an exceptionally busy 24 month period as an excuse to not keep up with writing articles for this website. That's something I want to rectify. I have a lot of things I'd like to share, but I have to make time for them, otherwise they'll continue to only exist in my head.

On top of this, there are a number of improvements I'd like to make to my skillset and business. Again, I've used the busy period as an excuse to focus solely on client work at the expense of personal and business development.

I figure the best way to rectify this is to set myself some goals for the year. That way I can hold myself publicly accountable.

So, in no particular order I want to achieve the following this year:

  • Create a Statamic starter theme to jump start new projects.
  • Write at least one article a month where I share my knowledge, or look at progressive and sustainable front end development approaches.
  • Improve my CSS authoring to be more mindful of modern browser capabilities and resilient towards technical debt.
  • Build a component library for use on Laravel projects, using a combination of Laravel Blade templates, Livewire, and AlpineJS.
  • Fully transition to using Statamic for a modern content management solution.
  • Refresh my design skills and get to grips with Figma, in order to design at least one website myself.

I'll check back one month and update my progress.
